In Memory of David Grammer
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our esteemed Director of Coaching, David Grammer, who died peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, 29th July.
David was an outstanding coach but also a cherished friend to many. His warmth, generosity, and dedication touched countless lives within our hockey community, and he will be much missed.
Throughout his career, David led coaching for Cambridgeshire County as well as numerous clubs and schools across the region and beyond. His vision and leadership transformed the coaching landscape in Cambs, creating a strong and lasting pathway for junior players to develop their skills and passion for the game. His tireless work and commitment have left a legacy that will continue to inspire us for years to come.
We remain committed to building upon the foundations that David laid, and realising his vision for Cambs.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his wife, Lorna, and daughter, Jess, at this difficult time. We hope they find comfort in knowing the positive and lasting difference David made to so many.
Rest in peace, David — you helped to build the next hockey generation, we’ll go forward with you in our hearts.
For anyone wishing to pay their respects David's funeral will take place on:
The colour black is not compulsory and please wear cheerful coloured clothes should you feel comfortable doing so. David's favourite colour was orange so please wear an item of orange as a token should you wish.
A memorial tournament is also being arranged by Jess and details of this will follow if you would like to take part.
Please contact Jess cc Martyn should you have any coaching queries.
Best Wishes
Martyn
